On Monday September 27, 2021, we had the privilege of meeting the writer Jean-Claude Mourlevat who came to Sweden as the winner of the prestigious Alma Prize. We had an exchange about his jury-noticed novel Jefferson. Although considered to be children’s literature, this animal crime novel deals with serious and topical subjects: animal mistreatment, vegetarianism, harassment and prejudice against others.
The exchange was rich, the author’s responses were generous and we were able to express ourselves freely about the work. The novel, which we really liked, found all its meaning thanks to the passionate, fascinating and sometimes funny explanations of Jean-Claude Mourlevat. We will keep fond memories of this meeting during which the writer showed great interest in our questions.
We congratulate Jean-Claude Mourlevat for his prize and we warmly thank him for coming to our school!
