If you don’t have the certifications that are necessary for “nationella program” there are three ways to catch up:

Introduction Programs (Introduktionsprogram)

There are four “introduktionsprogram”. You can find more information about them here.

Examination (Prövning)

You can contact a Swedish grundskola (högstadium) and ask for a “prövning” in one or several subjects.
– “Prövning” is a knowledge test of a specific subject.
–  Public schools and private schools can organise a “prövning”
– If you already have a Swedish grade in a specific subject but want to raise the grade, the school have the right to ask for a small payment in order to do the test
– It is the school that decides the date of the test, and you may have to wait for several months.

Summer School (Sommarskola)

Some schools offers summer school, classes during the summer holidays. These classes offer the possibility to get the grade you need, in one or several subjects, to get the required qualifications to a “nationellt program”. Contact the municipality where you live to get more information.
