From Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) to Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) ​

From the start of the 2022 school year, the Option International du Baccalauréat (OIB) evolves and becomes the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI). Students in 1ère can engage in this system to prepare, during two years, this new international option taken into account in the exam, from the 2024 session of the Baccalauréat

What changes compared to the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB)​

→  The preparation for the BFI concerns only the final cycle (the international section is maintained until the end of 2nde).​

→ Students who have not followed an international section before the first year can apply for a preparation of the BFI.

→ The specific classes, Approfondissement culturel et linguistique (ACL) and the discipline non-linguistique (Histoire-Géographie) are reinforced and supplemented by the new Connaissance du monde (CdM).

→ The student’s commitment is valued within the framework of a project carried out with an international partner.

The BFI is available, depending on the institution, in different “parcours”.​

The teachings

Students enrolled in the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) follow:

→ The same lessons as the students who doesn’t prepare a BFI (enseignements de tronc commun, enseignements de spécialité)

→  3 additional classes specific to the preparation of the baccalauréat français international, such as :

Histoire-Géographie – Swedish

The teaching of Histoire-Géographie within the BFI is the equivalent of the current Histoire-Géographie. One part will be taught in French and the other part in Swedish. Histoire-Géographie will be sanctioned by a written test as well as an oral test at the end of Terminale.

Approfondissement culturel et linguistique (ACL) – English

The complementary education of approfondissement culturel et linguistique is the equivalent of the current optional education of Littérature Anglophone. The ACL will be sanctioned by a written test as well as an oral test at the end of Terminale.

Connaissance du monde (CdM) – SWEDISH

It is based on teaching that articulates the history of ideas and geopolitical questions, knowledge of the challenges of the contemporary world, culture and civilization of the countries of the languages ​​studied as well as on a project with an international partner led by the student.

Three major thematic portals exploring the major issues and lively questions of the contemporary world: ​

  • Thinking about life together
  • Inhabit the world
  • Building the future 

It associates : ​

→ a traditional education intended to transmit to the students a cultural and linguistic content and the vision of the major contemporary issues by the intellectuals of the countries of the language of the section.

→ a project approach engaging the terminale student in a concrete and collective action in international partnership and in connection with the program in the language of the section.

I twill be sanctioned by an oral test at the end of Terminale.

Baccalauréat assessment

→ The assessment of the approfondissement culturel et linguistique replaces that of LVA or LVB depending on the language in which it was taken.

 → The assessment of the connaissance du monde is added to the other assessments and coefficients​.

 → The specific assessment of the discipline non linguistique obligatoire replaces that of the concerned subject.
